Longtime Brewster Resident, Mount Kisco Native, Dies

Robert D. Adams, also known as “Rusty,” died Wednesday at his home in Beaulaville, NC, at the age of 64 after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 12, 1947 in Mt. Kisco, son of the late Robert and Marie Hall Adams. He grew up in the Brewster area and was a truck diver for Ralph Burdick Blacktopping for many years before moving to Beaulaville, NC. There, he was employed as an over-the-road driver for Robert’s Trucking Co.

Rusty’s passion was driving big rigs from coast to coast, which is why he had the nick name “Driving Russ."

He leaves behind a daughter, Dawn R. Adams of Danbury, CT; a son, Robert “Bobby” Adams of Wood Hull: a sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Jim Lawlor of Brewster; a granddaughter, Pheobe Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Steven and his sister Jorja Hanlon.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, with a service starting at 4 p.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home (23 South Street) in Patterson. Internment will be private.
