Mallomars Sighting: A Harbinger of Fall
It may still be summer, officially, but the cool weather brings out the cookies.

It must be autumn, because displays of Mallomars have appeared in ShopRite supermarkets all over the Hudson Valley.
The classic Nabisco cookie, now baked by Kraft, is a particular favorite locally. In fact, right on the yellow box it says, "Mallomars were created by Nabisco in 1913 and first sold to a grocer in West Hoboken, NJ. The metropolitan New York City area boasts the most loyal Mallomars fans. More than 70 percent of all Mallomars sales are generated in the shadow of the Big Apple."

Avid couponer Lillian Gore told Patch Mallomars are one of the few exceptions to her buying rule. "Full price, half price, I'll pay whatever," she said. "To me, they're priceless."
