Man Accused Of Drawing Handgun During Dispute In Mahopac

Carmel police were sent to the vicinity of 912 Rte. 6 Thursday morning.

MAHOPAC, NY — A Queens resident faces felony and misdemeanor charges after an argument on Route 6 Thursday.

Carmel police were sent to the vicinity of 912 Rte. 6 at 10:39 a.m. after a report about a verbal dispute in which one person had a gun.

Officers got there within a minute, police said.

They were told that that one of the disputants, Zongbo Xu, 48, of College Point, NY, displayed a handgun. Xu was taken into custody without further incident or injuries to officers or the public and a firearm was recovered from the scene.

After investigation by Carmel Police, Xu was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, a felony, and Menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

Xu was arraigned in Carmel Town Court and held at Putnam County Jail on $25,000 bail.
