Man Arrested For Felony Drunk Driving In Brewster

The man was the subject of an active bench warrant investigation.

BREWSTER, NY — On Nov. 2, the New York State Police arrested Carlos H. Martinez Lazaro, 37, of Bedford, for driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both felonies, and third-degree bail jumping and use of a vehicle without an interlock device, both misdemeanors.

Troopers were sent to Banksville-Bedford Road in the Town of Bedford around 5 p.m. to continue an active bench warrant investigation for Martinez Lazaro.

They observed him operating a motor vehicle in violation of vehicle and traffic laws and initiated a traffic stop.

Troopers took Martinez Lazaro into custody, and found he was intoxicated while being suspended for his previous DWI conviction.

He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Bedford Justice Court Nov. 29 and then arraigned before the Village of Brewster Justice Court for the active bench warrant.

Martinez Lazaro was sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before the Village of Brewster Justice Court Nov. 13.
