Man Found Running On I-684 Arrested
Police said he tried to throw away a small bag of cocaine.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A New York City man was arrested in the Town of Southeast after he was found running on Interstate 684. State Police said Roger B. Sherwood, 54, of Brooklyn was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence, felonies, and disorderly conduct, a violation.
Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, troopers were sent to I-684 in the Town of Southeast for a report of a suspicious person in the roadway.
When they got there, troopers saw Sherwood running in the northbound lanes of the interstate.

When troopers activated their emergency lights, he ran into the median and could be seen throwing a small plastic bag, police said.
Sherwood was taken into custody without further incident and police said the small bag, which contained approximately 2.4 grams of cocaine, was recovered.

He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail without bail.
Sherwood is next scheduled to appear in court April 10.
