Marshall For 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Inducted In Putnam

The registration deadline to march is coming up soon.

SOUTHEAST, NY — Town resident Ed McDowell was inducted as Grand Marshall for the 45th Annual Northern Westchester-Putnam Patrick’s Day Parade at the annual installation dinner on Friday.

The parade date is March 13 and the registration deadline to participate is March 4.

It takes place rain or shine in Mahopac and everyone is invited to watch. For more information and to register to march in the parade, you can email registration@saintpatricksdayparade.net.

McDowell is one of three children born to Ellen Mahoney McDowell, originally of Charlesville,
County Cork, Ireland, and Thomas Patrick McDowell, originally of Ballinalee, County
Longford, Ireland. Raised in Yonkers, Ed attended various technical schools at night. Ed served
in the US Army from 1962 until 1964, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of
Specialist 4. After his duty in the military, he married the love of his life, Christine Freeman,
and moved to Brewster to raise his three children. Ed continues to serve his community
today by generously donating his time and talents to numerous civic and fraternal groups
throughout Putnam County.

McDowell said he was extremely grateful and honored to be chosen by the Emerald Association of Putnam County to be the Grand Marshal and is looking forward to marching down Route 6 with his family and friends on parade day.
