Motorcyclist Crashes After Running Red LIght On Route 6: Putnam Sheriff
The intersection of Route 52 and Route 6 was closed for hours.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured when his cycle collided with another vehicle in Carmel
on Sunday. He did it after running a red light, according to Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith.
According to preliminary reports, Dwayne L. Cantelmo, 44, of Stormville, was riding a 1995 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a northeasterly direction on U.S. Route 6 at about 5:20 p.m. on Sunday when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection with New York Route 52 in Carmel, in front of the Reed Memorial Library.
His motorcycle collided with a 2006 Acura sedan being driven by Michael A. Nieves, 33, of Katonah, which was headed in a southerly direction on Route 52 and was turning left to go east on Route 6 with the green light. The motorcycle broadsided the car in the intersection and the impact ejected Cantelmo from the cycle.
