Next Hudson Valley Honor Flight is Oct. 6

The organization invites World War II and Korean War vets who haven't been on this all-expense-paid trip to the memorials in DC.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight is still seeking veterans for its 21st mission taking place Oct. 6.

The flight will depart New York Stewart International Airport in New Windsor taking veterans on an all-expense-paid trip to visit our nation’s war memorials. Veterans will travel by police escorted bus convoy while in D.C. for the daylong trip. It is scheduled to return around 7:45 p.m. the same day.

All area World War II and Korean War veterans from the following counties who have not previously taken part in a Hudson Valley Honor Flight are eligible to participate: Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan, Putnam, Pike (Pa.), Bergen (N.J.), and Fairfield (Conn.). In addition, veterans who served in the time between World War II and the Korean War are eligible to participate. Applications can be found online at www.hvhonorflight.com

“We are so excited to honor our veterans on October 6th,” said Chairman Frank Kimler. “Mission 21 is filling up fast but we still have some seats available and we are seeking veterans to join us for this unforgettable day. We know they’re out there! We are so grateful to ShopRite for their continued generosity and support of all of our missions. It’s such an honor for us and our volunteers to escort our heroes on this trip to our nation’s capital.”

Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF) is a local nonprofit based in Walden which honors Hudson Valley area veterans for all their sacrifices by bringing them to Washington, D.C. to visit their respective war memorials at no cost to them. HVHF is also the local hub of the National Honor Flight Network, which has more than 100 independent non-profit “hubs” nationwide.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which “Honors American Veterans” for all their sacrifices. HVHF transports these heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials at no cost to them. It is the local hub of the National Honor Flight Network (which consists of more than 100 independent non-profit “hubs” across America). HVHF flies multiple times a year out of Stewart International Airport and Westchester County Airport.
