Norwalk Man Accused Of Driving Illegally With Illegal Gun: NYSP

He was stopped by a New York state trooper near Brewster.

SOUTHEAST, NY — A 24-year-old Norwalk, Connecticut man faces gun charges in New York after being stopped on Route 22 Friday.

New York State police said when they conducted a traffic stop at 11:35 a.m. for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law, they discovered the driver of the 2014 Volkswagen had a suspended license and expired registration.

Further investigation found Bryon A. Bloomfield in illegal possession of a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, they said.

Bloomfield was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony, and cited for the license and registration.

Bloomfield was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Leader and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Southeast town court Aug. 18.
