Obituary: Kenneth R. Dorman of Brewster

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church.

Kenneth R. Dorman of Brewster, NY, passed away Sunday February 12, 2023, in Mt. Pleasant, NY at the age of 89.

Kenneth was born December 13, 1933, in Bronx, NY, son of the late Harry and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Dorman. After graduating from High School, he joined the Army in 1957 and served during the Korean War. On April 26, 1964, he married Barbara Ann Sware in Brooklyn, NY. They lived in Yonkers, NY before moving to Brewster in 1979. Barbara predeceased Kenneth on Oct. 26, 1989. Kenneth worked as a Court Clerk for the Bronx Supreme Court for twenty-five years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid Yankees and NY Jets Fan.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters Kristine Dorman and Jennifer Takacs of Brewster, NY; son Robert Dorman and husband Chris Platt of West Hollywood, CA; granddaughter Autumn Takacs and niece Maureen Dorman-Lutz. Along with three nieces on his wife's side, Dawn, Donna, and Stacey, as well as his brother-in-law Kenneth Sware. He was predeceased by his brother Buddy Dorman.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday February 17, 2023, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster. Calling hours will take place Thursday February 16, 2023, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
