Obituary: Patrick Perry, Former Putnam Sheriff's Inspector General

Patrick W. Perry, 85, a resident of Carmel, NY who had served as Inspector General in the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, died August 11, 2022.

Patrick was born on March 14, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to Patrick and Agnes (Woodfine) Perry. He married the love of his life, Patricia O’Sullivan on October 24, 1959 and they were blessed with six children.

He received his Masters in Criminal Justice at John Jay College in New York City. He then began work in law enforcement and eventually became the Warden at Riker’s Island in New York City.
Family was the most important thing to Patrick and he was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He never tired of spending time with his family, especially his 12 cherished grandchildren and three adored great grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, his dear children, Patrick Perry, Elaine Courtney, Susan Perry-Walker, Carolyn Perry-Ameijide, and Katharine Pearsall and his treasured grandchildren. His siblings, Joseph Perry, Dorothy McKeeff, and Catherine Perry-Gildner also survive him. He is predeceased by his son, Michael Perry and brother, Ronald Perry.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Cargain Funeral Homes Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.

A Christian Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Patrick's life will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1 Doherty Drive, Carmel, NY.
A private cremation will take place following the service.
