Obituary: Resident of 45 Years Dies

Marie Teresa (Nuzzi) Meola of Brewster was called to be with the Lord on Saturday in Danbury, CT at the age of 78. 

Marie was born Feb. 24, 1934, in White Plains, daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Capasso) Nuzzi. Marie graduated from Eastchester High School and business school.

On May 9, 1959, she married Thomas Meola in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. Marie and Tom began their lives together and started their family in Yonkers before moving to Brewster 45 years ago.

They became members of . Marie was an avid bowler and looked forward to her morning league, where she continued to be the secretary even after she stopped bowling. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Lloyd Lumber Co., then Dill’s Best in Brewster before she retired.

Besides her husband Thomas of Brewster, Marie is survived by her son Louis Meola and his wife Brenda of Danbury, CT; her daughter Donna Budd and her husband Brian of Sandy Hook, CT; a sister Margaret “Babes” DeRobertis of Scarsdale and five grandchildren: Louis Jr,. Jessica, Thomas, Kristen and Matthew. Marie was pre-deceased by her sister, Gloria Fiscella. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Internment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT. Calling hours are scheduled for 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Monday at the Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, (845)-279-3615).
