Ohberg Nets Game-Winner: Daily Sports Digest May 23

Girls Lax

Host No. 3 Brewster has had an incredible year and it continued on Tuesday when it defeated No. 7 Yorktown 8-7 in the Section 1 Class B semifinals, according to highschoolsports.net.

Kristen Ohberg, who scored the game-winning goal in thrilling fashion with 21.2 seconds left in the second half off an assist from Liz Lleshaj, according to LoHud Lacrosse, led a well-balanced Brewster attack with two goals and an assist. 

The Bears will now play No. 1 Fox Lane, a 17-6 winner against No. 4 Scarsdale in its semifinal contest, in the championship game at Fox Lane High School at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The title game in Class B, as were the ones in Class A and C, were originally supposed to be played at Suffern Middle School today but were changed because four of the six semifinals scheduled for Monday were postponed by rain and moved to Tuesday according to laxlessons.com.

Schedule Changes

The weather also caused changes to the start of the upcoming Section 1 baseball tournaments, according to MSG Varsity.

No. 23 Brewster was scheduled to travel to play No. 10 Lakeland yesterday at 4:30 p.m. in a Class A out-bracket game. Instead, that game will be played today.
