One More Snow, Then Warmer: Putnam's County Work Week

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — Are you tired of the cold yet? Winter is going to begin slipping away this week as spring warmth makes its debut. But first the Hudson Valley has the chance for a little more snow Monday night into Tuesday.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said the greatest chance for snow to will be at night and early in the morning.

“Only if the storm were to restrengthen along the coast would more substantial snow target the northeast, but odds are against this scenario,” she said.

Hudson Valley Weather said that temps will be near or just below freezing when the precipitation is likely to come down in the “minor event.”

They said the timing is as follows:

• 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.: Scattered light snow showers develop
• 7 a.m. to noon: Scattered light snow showers taper off

Then — by late in the week — we could be seeing temperatures in the upper 60s.

Here is the forecast for the week from the National Weather Service for Putnam County:

• Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. West wind 3 to 6 mph.
• Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Light south wind.
• Tuesday: Snow likely before 11am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.
• Thursday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 59.
• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.
