Organizers Waste No Time Planning Village Events for Spring, Summer

They're seeking filmmakers and sponsors to participate in a September festival.

Following a this past fall, local folks will have the chance to attend a host of cultural events in Brewster this year.

The Village of Brewster Board of Trustees recently approved preliminary plans for a film festival and a series of shows — during which artists display their work on Main Street — this spring and summer. 

According to head organizer Bob Dumont, who owns , plans for the festival include an afternoon of food and drink on Oak Street, followed by a screening of 15 short films on the lawn of the  when the sun goes down.

It's slated for Sept. 1, with a rain date of Sept. 2. The film portion of the event will be free to attend, but food and drink prices are up to merchants.

Trustees were thrilled with the proposal when Dumont presented earlier this month. They commended him for his work on the festival, as well as Art Beat. Those shows are slated to run on the first Saturday of the month, in June, July and August. May is a possibility, too, Dumont said.
