Out Of The Frying Pan, Storms On The Way: Brewster's Weekend Weather

BREWSTER, NY — Another couple of days of heat creeping up toward or into the 90s. But there is good news as far as comfort is concerned. Humidity levels should be noticeably drier than Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has placed Putnam County under a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Saturday through Monday.

"Anyone with outdoor plans on Sunday, should keep an eye on the details," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night and Sunday with a chance of additional thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday. Wind gusts of at 58 mph are possible along with heavy rain and frequent lightning in thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the local area under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms from Saturday evening through Sunday night, said the National Weather Service.

"Exactly where the temperature contrast zone sets up each day will determine the main path of the storms and areas at greatest risk for damage and disruptions from flooding and strong winds," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek.

Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds, and heavy rainfall. Lows in the upper 60s. Southeast winds around 5 mph, becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall. Highs in the upper 70s. Northeast winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 60 percent.
