Pay Your Taxes or Lose Your Drivers License: Media Report
Dramatic new measure could net New York State $26 million in back taxes this year alone, says the New York Post.

A new initiative from Gov. Andrew Cuomo would suspend the licenses of about 16,000 New York state residents who owe more than $10,000 in back taxes, according to a report by the New York Post.
In its Aug. 5 exclusive, the Post said, "According to tax records, Michael D. Zurawin of Putnam County is the worst offender. He owes a whopping $16.7 million in back income taxes."
Tax delinquents have 60 days to pay up. They can apply for a restricted license allowing them to drive only to and from work.
State officials told the Post that 96 percent of New Yorkers pay their taxes on time.
The Post quoted Cuomo saying, "Tax scofflaws who don’t abide by the same rules as everyone else are not entitled to the same privileges as everyone else."
