Police: Drunk, Unlicensed Driver Carrying Fireworks Ran Red Light

Yorktown police say the Mount Kisco man was also wanted by the Carmel police.

Yorktown police on patrol said they saw a car run a red light at Downing Drive and Veterans Road at 11:17 p.m. May 23.

They stopped the car for the traffic infraction, and observed signs that the driver was drunk. He was also unlicensed. Later, they found the fireworks. They also found out that there was a warrant out for his arrest from the Carmel Police Department.

Joseph A. Schiavone, 29, faces a felony charge of aggregated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated; and charges for unlawful possession of fireworks, a violation; and passing a steady red light, a traffic infraction.

The Mount Kisco resident was released from Yorktown custody after paying $250 bail and turned over to the Carmel police. He is due in Yorktown court June 23.
