Police Probe Main Street Stabbing
A Brewster resident is in Putnam County Jail on $ 250,000 bail, charged with attempted murder. Police ask anyone with info to call.

BREWSTER, NY β A stabbing on Main Street in Brewster Sunday has put a 29-year-old resident in jail on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 property bond.
State and village police plus the Putnam's Sheriff's Office responded at 1:35 a.m. outside El Pueblo Restaurant. They found a victim, a 23-year-old Brewster resident who had been stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to Danbury Hospital where he was reported in critical condition.
The police investigation identified Celso N. Cantoral-Cruz as the suspect who had run away after the stabbing.

With the assistance of the Putnam County Sheriffβs Office, Cantoral-Cruz was located inside his Main Street residence. New York State Police from the Brewster barracks, partnered with the Putnam County District Attorneyβs Office, charged him with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Felony, Assault in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Cantoral-Cruz was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Justice Court and sent to the Putnam County Jail.
