Pre-Thanksgiving Storm Possible: Brewster's Work Week Weather

Here's what you need to know about what could disrupt travel plans.

SOUTHEAST, NY — Cold persists this week, as temps stay lower than normal in the Hudson Valley. Some forecasters are predicting a winter storm could be heading our way by Friday.

"Our cooler than average temperatures will continue through the work week," says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Meteorologists are watching a potential storm that could occur as polar air drops southward late this week and into the coming weekend.

“We will have to wait and see the exact storm track, but at least some travel delays can be expected across the Northeast from heavy rain, snow and some rather strong winds,” AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Evan Duffey said.

Then there's Thanksgiving. Travel plans? Keep an eye on the mid-range forecast.

“Regardless of the storm potential, people planning on traveling by car [for Thanksgiving] in the Northeast and Midwest should make sure their vehicle is prepared for winter travel conditions,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.

  • Tonight-Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s. North winds around 5 mph.
  • Tuesday-Partly sunny in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs in the lower 40s. North winds around 5 mph.
  • Tuesday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows around 30. North winds around 5 mph.
  • Wednesday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northeast winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night-Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 30s.
  • Thursday-Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Highs around 50.

  • Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the upper 20s.
  • Friday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
  • Friday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
