Public Discussion April 8 on Update to Brewster's Comprensive Plan

A public hearing on the draft verson of Brewsterâs Comprehensive Plan Update is scheduled for April 8.
Residents, business owners and neighbors are invited.
The draft plan update was unanimously accepted by the Brewster Board of Trustees as the written vision for the villageâs improvement. Village officials believe the Brewster Comprehensive Plan Update will benefit the Village and region by showing the way to create jobs, raise quality of life and provide sustainable economic growth.

âThe Village of Brewster is continuing to transform the Village working with our partners and neighbors to move our community forward,â Mayor James Schoenig said in a prepared statement. âWe are undertaking the remaining tasks of zoning revisions and an urban renewal plan to bring the Village vision to fruition, advancing and modernizing housing and commercial opportunities using Transit Oriented Development (TOD) standards.â
It is available for review in the Village office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays or may be viewed at www.brewstervillage-ny.gov

Village officials said they hope residents will continue to participate right through the final adoption process.
Trustees, employees and consultants, Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, Brewster Schools, Putnam County Economic Development Corporation, Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, Brewster Chamber of Commerce, local Rotary Clubs, Covington Development, Tecton Architects, Goman & York, The Office of the Putnam County Executive, Putnam County Planning, New York State Economic Development Corporation, Hudson Valley Greenway, VHB Engineering, PACE Land Use Law Center, and committee volunteers and public participants provided valuable contributions to the plan before forwarding it to the Board of Trustees for the formal approval process.
âWe are delighted with the broad participation and continued support of our vision for Brewster and welcome further review and recommendations to our draft plan,â Schoenig said.
The public hearing will start at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 50 Main Street, Brewster, NY 10509.
