Putnam Assemblyman To File Bridge Renaming Bill

An online petition has more than 100,000 signatures.

MAHOPAC, NY — A Putnam County assemblyman is expected to file a bill this week to have the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge renamed to its original name: the Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge. Assemblyman Kevin Byrne, R-Mahopac, said he’s heard a lot of outrage across his district about renaming the bridge.

An online petition calling for a name change, created by Port Chester attorney Monroe Mann Jr., has more than 100,000 signatures, lohud.com said.

The name was changed in June in an omnibus bill pass at the end of the 2017 legislative session.
