Putnam County Reports 39 New Coronavirus Cases This Week

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — The number of people testing positive for coronavirus has gone up by 152 in Putnam County over the past month.

There were 39 new cases in the past week, Putnam health officials reported on the county's dashboard. There are four people hospitalized with COVID-19 at Putnam County Hospital as of Friday, up from three the week before.

The cumulative number of cases —since the outbreak began — was 1,889, officials reported Friday. That's up from 1,737 on Sept. 11.

Putnam remains one of the least affected counties in the Hudson region, unlike Orange and Rockland counties where spikes in coronavirus cases have led to tightened restrictions in geographic micro-clusters, as can be seen in this chart from the state's dashboard showing tests and positive results from Thursday.

The number of tests given daily has risen, and the positivity rate has remained steady.
