Putnam Sheriff: Mahopac Woman Stole, Forged, Cashed Checks
She was in the Orange County Jail when she was arrested by sheriff's deputies.

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of Sheri L. Alexander, 31, of 141 East Lake Boulevard, Mahopac on multiple felony charges.
Police said that four months ago, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Fraud Investigators reported having received numerous checks which appeared to be forged, causing a loss of $2,950 to the financial institution. Criminal Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation, in conjunction with detectives from the Town of East Fishkill Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a four month investigation.
According to police, the results of the investigation revealed that Alexander was responsible for the theft of the checks from a Stormville residence; fraudulently completed the checks; forged the account holder’s signature; and cashed the checks at the Carmel branch of the HVFCU. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Alexander and arrested her at the Orange County Jail in Goshen, where she was being held on similar charges.
