Route 6 Traffic Stop Turns Up Illegal Handgun: NYSP

The driver, a Connecticut man, faces charges in Southeast.

SOUTHEAST, NY — On Nov. 21 the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Alfredo S. Mendoza, 21, of Kearny, CT, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation.

Troopers observed Mendoza’s vehicle at approximately 5:30 PM, on State Route 6 in the Town of Southeast, and initiated a vehicle stop for Vehicle and Traffic Violations. Troopers detected the presence of marihuana, and further investigation discovered an illegal loaded hand gun.

Mendoza was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail and $5,000 bond. Mendoza is next scheduled to appear before the court on November 27, 2017, at 3:00 PM.
