Man Beaten To Death For Offering His Neighbor's Girlfriend A Beer, Police Say

Hector Davila is accused of punching Kevin Ryant to the ground after he offered Davila's girlfriend a drink, police said.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Police arrested a Brooklyn man they say beat his neighbor to death for offering his date a beer.

Hector Davila, 52, became outraged with Kevin Ryant, 49, early Aug. 19 when Ryant offered his girlfriend a drink near the two men's homes on Willmohr and East 94th streets, police said.

Witnesses watched as Davila and Ryant’s fought and Davila punched Ryant to the ground, said police.

Emergency responders found Ryant lying unconscious on the concrete around 2 a.m. and rushed him to Brookdale Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Doctors were unable to save Ryant’s life and he died Aug. 23 from his injuries, police said.

Davila, who lived across the street from Ryant near East 95th Street, was arrested and charged with assault on Aug. 22, police said.

He was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court, held on a $50,000 bond and is due again in court on Aug. 28, court records show.
