I-84 Eastbound Reopened After Fatal Crash Investigation: UPDATE

Police reopened the heavily-traveled road after 10 hours.

UPDATE — Police have reopened Interstate 84 eastbound. It had been closed since about 4 a.m. after a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer. The truck rolled over and was struck by the car, State Police Trooper AJ Hicks said.


UPDATE — While the scene of a horrific morning crash on eastbound I-84 is investigated and cleaned up, New York State Police are detouring passenger cars onto the Taconic State Parkway. Commercial vehicles are being detoured at Exit 17 - Ludingtonville Road.


KENT, NY — An early rush-hour crash with serious injuries has closed I-84 eastbound in Putnam County, state police reported. The crash involved a car and a tractor trailer.

Interstate 84 eastbound will be closed for an extended period east of exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road/County Route 43).

Traffic will be detoured off exit 17, onto NY State Route 52, to NY State Route 311, and then back to Interstate 84.

Traffic is backed up to the Taconic Parkway.

New York State Police posted this detour: E/B I-84 (Exit 17) to NY 52 to NY 311 back onto I-84 E/B.
