UPDATE: Crash Kills 2 on Route 22 in Southeast

State police, county sheriffs, Brewster firefighters and the Brewster rescue squad were on the scene.

UPDATE: Two people died in an head-on accident on Route 22 in Southeast, state police said.

A local resident and a Connecticut resident were killed, according to lohud.com.

The collision took place around 1 p.m., police said. Names were being withheld until notification of next of kin.

Route 22 was closed for hours during the clean-up and investigation. It was cleared around 5 p.m.

New York State Police from the Brewster barracks are investigating a serious two car auto accident that occurred on State Route 22 this afternoon.

The collision has closed Route 22 between Stoneleigh Avenue and Deans Corners Road for reconstruction. It is anticipated that the roadway will be closed for several hours.

The State Police are being assisted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Brewster Fire Department and the Brewster Rescue Squad.
