Shocking Overnight Temps: Southeast's Weekend Weather

BREWSTER, NY — Lows drop into the mid-50s Friday night. That'll be a shock to the system! Then we'll get a partly cloudy day or so before storms hit us again, so the weather should be good for the Brewster Fall Festival.

"The weather does improve a bit for the weekend, things should dry out," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather on Facebook.

Now, about Florence.

"The models have very little agreement on where the hurricane is going to go," Potter said, noting "fear-mongering" in several media outlets despite the fact that it's almost seven days away. "The storm does need to be monitored," he said.

Here's what the National Weather Service forecasts for the weekend in Putnam County:

• Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain. Lows in the upper 50s. East winds around 5 mph, becoming north after midnight.
• Saturday-Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Sunday-Partly sunny in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of rain. Highs in the mid 60s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Sunday Night-Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Lows in the mid 50s.
