
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Kent man on a charge of petit larceny.
At 5:52 p.m., April 19, Deputy Sheriff Alexander Ruhe was dispatched to a report of a larceny at the ShopRite supermarket on Route 52. A loss prevention employee had apprehended a man who had passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for merchandise. The employee indicated that he wished to file criminal charges against the man, identified as James M. DeRosario, 58, of Kent.
DeRosario is charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000Â for each charge.
