Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain: Winter Weather Advisory for Putnam County

BREWSTER, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Putnam County:

• Winter Weather Advisory in effect from December 11, 04:00 PM EST until December 12, 10:00 AM EST

Snow is predicted to start this afternoon as showers and flurries. It is expected to become steady in the evening and then a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will go through the night and into Monday morning. After 10 a.m. it should be just rain.

Total snow accumulation, the NWS predicts, will be 1-4 inches — but there will also be a sheen of ice.

The snow and freezing rain combo will create hazardous driving conditions, the NWS warns, with slippery roads and limited visibilities.
