Swift Progress In Brewster Library Renovations: VIDEO

The work is so exciting that the noise (and the need to pack up parts of the collection temporarily) is acceptable, library officials said.

BREWSTER, NY — Renovations continue apace on Phase 2 of the Brewster Public Library's renovation and expansion project. It includes a new community room, private study rooms, and an ADA compliant elevator and restrooms, plus keeping the upper level's David D. Bruen Reading Room and of course respecting the historic facade.

"Construction is in full swing, so we definitely hope to be finished this fall!" Library Director Gina Loprinzo told Patch. "We are doing everything we can to keep the library open as much as possible during construction, but we'll be losing access to certain areas as the work progresses. Right now, we're working to pack up parts of the collection to put into storage, but we're still able to get items from other libraries in the system. We're also coming up with creative ideas to run as many programs as possible as the work goes on and space gets more limited - sometimes it's a little noisy, but we make the best of it!"
