The Morning Commute Around Town
Patch was out Monday morning snapping shots of residents at the start of their journeys to work.
Every morning they wake, dress and head out to take on the world. Some wide-awake, some still groggy, they walk, ride or drive to their commuter lots, park their cars, lock up their bikes and head to the platforms at the Southeast and Brewster Metro-North Railroad stations.
Peter Kouloganes sells coffee and breakfast items from his truck in the Southeast station parking lot. A few miles away others sit and relax in The Dining Car, a restaurant in Brewster's station, as they wait for their trains.
Daily riders have their MetroCards in hand and ready while less-frequent travelers buy tickets from machines or staff at the ticket counter in Brewster station before boarding the train to Grand Central Terminal. The shortest rides are about an hour and 15 minutes long — enough time to read the paper, enjoy conversation with fellow commuters, catch up on last minute work or just get an extra hour of sleep before the day begins.
