No stranger to Studio events, Unanticipated Radish labels itself as a “modern day Partridge Family band.” Marie (also known as Mother) is the “Un” in the group’s name. Her daughter Marygrace (Anticipated) and son Justin (The Radish) round off the trio. Contemporary folk and soft rock are their strong suits. Marygrace and Marie’s vocals are augmented by the latter’s acoustic guitar strums and Justin’s steady drum rhythms.
Marie founded the group to give her kids an outlet for their musical passions. Marygrace has performed in dozens of plays around the region, including Brewster Theatre Company. Psychology major Justin finds his music a great de-stressing counter-balance to his cerebral studies. Today, Unanticipated Radish plays at various coffee houses, restaurants, and clubs in the Tri-State area. We look forward to a fine show in January.
Scribes Notes:
• Saturday Scribes thanks the immensely talented Steve Parlato for sharing his fiction and poetry with us in November. Attendees enjoyed Parlato’s witty nature and also, were privy to a preview of his forthcoming novel.
• The Scribes looks forward to award-winning playwright Karen Vastola’s forthcoming headliner month. We also eagerly anticipate spotlighting speculative fiction voice Eric Larocca this year. More details will follow next month.
• As always, our open mic participants are largely responsible for the success of each of our gatherings. If you have a short story, poem, memoir, monologue, novel fragment or song to share, consider joining us on January 10th.
• Finally, we welcome all Saturday Scribes attendees, whether they wish to share their material or just wish to spend a fun couple of hours listening to great words and music. See you soon!
