United Way of Westchester and Putnam to Host Best Chefs and Fine Wines Event

Fundraising Event Highlighting Great Food

Putnam County, N.Y. – The region’s best culinary experts will demonstrate their talents and provide mouth-watering dishes at United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s annual Putnam Best Chefs and Fine Wines event. The event will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at Mahopac’s Putnam County Golf Course from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event draws food and wine lovers from all over the region, who come to enjoy samples from the area’s best restaurants and take in the beautiful scenery. This year, Garrison composer and keyboardist Art Labriola and his group will be providing live music.

Proceeds will support United Way’s efforts to help local families in crisis such as United Way’s 2-1-1, a free, confidential, multilingual information and referral helpline open 365 days a year, 9am-7pm.

“People who are struggling or in crisis are often hidden in Putnam, but United Way answers thousands of calls every year from Putnam residents in need” said Alana Sweeny, President and CEO of United Way of Westchester and Putnam.

At this year’s event, United Way will honor three outstanding Putnam volunteers: Bob Gentile, Executive Director, Camp Herrlich, Patterson; Wendy Gentile, Administrator, George Fischer Middle School, Carmel; and Diana Swinburne, Member, Board of Education, The Garrison School.

Event attendees will enjoy cuisine from some of the region’s finest food establishments, including: Arturo’s Tavern, Bistro Z, Café of Love, Fiamma Wood Fire Tavern, The Freight House Café and many others. Paired with the food will be wines from the Benmarl and Brotherhood wineries and beers from Brewster’s Bull & Barrel Brew Pub.

There will also be a silent auction, with the proceeds to benefit programs in Putnam.

Featured sponsors providing support for the culinary evening include Tompkins Mahopac Bank, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, M&T Bank, MVP Health Care and Putnam County Tourism.

Putnam County Golf Course is located at 187 Hill Street in Mahopac. Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 at the door. Sponsorship opportunities start at $275.
