Update on Restoration of Old Town Hall

The Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition has a lot to show off already.

From the Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition

BREWSTER, NY — Built in 1896 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the Southeast Old Town Hall is home to two not-for-profit organizations: The Southeast Museum since 1963 and the Cultural Arts Coalition since 2011. The Cultural Arts Coalition presents and hosts concerts, theatrical productions, exhibits, book readings, workshops, rehearsals, and classes in the basement at the Studio Around the Corner.

The top floor of OTH is truly a hidden gem: a more-than-a-century old theater with exquisite wood work, incredible acoustics, a classic stage, balcony, dressing rooms, etc. The OTH theater has been closed for more than thirty years.

OTH is the “Jewel in the Crown” of Brewster’s Main Street, and a keystone in the revitalization of the Village of Brewster. The Cultural Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Town of Southeast, is spearheading the restoration and the reopening of the theater.

Once the OTH theater is again operable, it will serve as an ideal venue for plays, concerts, films, and other community events, as well as a catalyst for economic development.
