Valley Stream Man Faces DWI Charge in Southeast

On Feb. 7 New York State Police arrested Nicholas G. Barounis, 35, of Valley Stream, NY, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched by Putnam County 911 to be on the lookout for an erratic vehicle traveling on State Route 22. Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Barounis, was found to be intoxicated.

Barounis supplied a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .19 percent, more than two times the legal limit of intoxication. Barounis was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear in Town of Southeast Court on Feb. 26.
