Vigil for Immigration Awareness Set for MLK Day in Brewster

Four congregations are hosting the event and the public is invited to participate.

BREWSTER, NY — The public is invited to join a Candlelight Vigil to bring Immigration Awareness to the Brewster/Carmel area.

A joined effort by First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, St. Andrew’s Church and Temple Beth Elohim, the peaceful Candlelight Prayer Walk is meant to help bring light, positivity, understanding and awareness to the various issues of immigration in our area, organizers said.

The Prayer Walk will be on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 16 (Snow Date: Jan. 22). Participants will meet at First United Methodist Church, 83 Main Street, Brewster at 12:45 p.m.

The group will walk up Main Street from 1 – 2 p.m. and gather afterward for fellowship at First United Methodist.
