He proudly served our Country with the US Marines from 1978 to 1982 serving as part of the first in air fueling teams and traveling the world doing so. On October 20th, 1996 he married the love of his life, Charlotte Berwind, at The Long Pond Inn, in Mahopac, New York.
A Registered Nurse at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY, he was also a volunteer Fireman and EMT for the Lake Carmel Fire Department in Kent, NY. Chuck sought to serve wherever needed at a moment’s notice, such as the rebuilding of Homestead, Fla. after Hurricane Andrew, the recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina, and volunteering as a nurse after the Haitian earthquake. Chuck continually sought out promising individuals to mentor and befriend, and had numerous young protégées. He was known for his sharp wit and intelligence, his wicked sense of humor and his inability to suffer fools. He enjoyed his motorcycle, a fine cigar, a cold beer, a bonfire and time at the beach. Always the friend to call on when you needed a hand, an ear, a shoulder, a tool or an odd job done, Chuck was relied on by many.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte and his dog Rex, a loving companion and a man’s best friend. He leaves three sisters, nieces and nephews and his wife’s family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lake Carmel Fire Department or Regional Hospice Care CT.
