Visitation, Service for Nancy K. Durkin

Nancy K. Durkin, a 71-year resident of Brewster, NY, died peacefully on October 26, 2017 at home. She was 94 years old.

Born on September 11, 1923 in New Haven, CT, daughter of the late Charles and Caroline (Dexheimer) Klaussner. Nancy was a White Plains High School graduate.

On August 14, 1942 she married the love of her life Patrick Joseph Durkin at St. John’s Church, White Plains, NY. Joe predeceased his wife on November 22, 1988.

Nancy was a clerical clerk for Guideposts in Carmel, NY, before retiring in 1979. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She enjoyed time spent at her lake house in Amston, CT relaxing, playing horseshoes and swimming for the past 40 years. She was an avid Pinochle and 500 Rummy card player. Nancy was an active parishioner of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.

Nancy is survived by her children, Cathy Mannfolk of Brewster, NY, Patricia (Richard) Lichtenberger of Mundelein, IL, Patrick ‘PJ’ Durkin Jr., Dover Plains, NY, Michael (Norine) Durkin of Brewster, NY, Barbara (Paul) Pember of Brewster, NY and her son-in-law Butch Lundy of Brewster, NY. Eleven grandchildren, Sheryl, Michael, Matthew, Richard, Ryan, Patrick, Martin, Raynor, Emily, Christopher and Jaclyn. Also eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was pre deceased by her daughter Jo Ann Lundy, her brother Charles Klaussner Jr. and her sister Muriel Nichols.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 10am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery.

Friends may call at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4pm-8pm.
