Visitation, Service for Richard T. Patterson
The Brewster resident was a 35-year veteran the Nassau County Police Department. He was 66.

Richard T. âRickâ Patterson of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 10, 2017 after a valiant battle against cancer. He was 66 years old.
Rick was born on July 12, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY, son to the late Joseph F. and Veronica (Longernecker) Patterson. He was a 1968 Valley Stream Central High School graduate and continued his education at St. Johnâs University, receiving his bachelors in Mathematics.
On June 17, 1972, Rick married the love of his life Maureen Werner at St. Lawrence OâToole in Brewster, NY. They just celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Rick served as a police officer with the Nassau County Police Department for 35 years before retiring in 2008 as a lieutenant. He was an all-around good person, always doing for others. He was an active parishioner of St. Lawrence OâToole Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed volunteering at the Brewster Community Food Pantry. Rick religiously cheered on the NY Mets and NY Jets â he had a deep love of sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren compete at any level. Rick enjoyed summer trips to Maine with his wife and family vacations to Disney.
Rick is not only survived by his wife of 45 years, Maureen, but also his children; Richard F. Patterson of Brewster, NY, Lynn Sullivan and her husband Brendan of Methuen, MA, Michael Patterson and his wife Dawn of Methuen, MA and Maureen Patterson-Fede and her husband Matthew of Hyde Park, MA; his brother Joseph Patterson of Lancaster, NY; his 4 grandchildren; Brendan, Casey, Allison and Jeremy and many, many close friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11am at St. Lawrence OâToole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will be private. Calling hours for friends and family will be at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Thursday July 13, 2017 from 4pm-8pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Rick may be made to Montfort Missionaries, 26 S Saxon Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
