Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Summer Meals; Senior Cards

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities somewhere in the Hudson Valley.

Each week Patch will be highlighting a volunteer opportunity — or two — in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — in perhaps a way you didn't consider before.

And if you have some need for volunteers, be sure to let us know by emailing michael.woyton@patch.com.

This week we are putting the spotlight on a couple of opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

To start off, Second Chance Foods, Inc. will be providing food for the summer meals program at the Kent Library every Friday through the summer. They need a volunteers to pick up the food at the Second Chance Foods kitchen in Brewster and deliver it to the Kent Library in Carmel.

Next, Meals on Wheels Programs and Services of Rockland, Inc., needs people to make cards for seniors to help brighten their days.

Caring Cards and Crafts for Seniors would be a great project for students, teachers, youth groups and families.

The cards and crafts are simple, handmade cutouts, but the thought and meaning behind them is so much greater.
