Wanted: Historic Sites Commission Member

A spot opened up earlier this month. Applicants should have their materials in by March 6.

Calling all history buffs and locals who love the area!

The Town of Southeast is in need of a seventh member for its Historic Sites Commission. The body typically convenes on a quarterly basis, with additional meetings as needed. Members serve seven-year terms. 

The commission is charged with overseeing and protecting a handful of properties, including the  and , that have significant ties to the community's roots. In the past, members have also examined several sites that date back to the 1700s and the 1800s, for inventory and identification purposes, according to the body's website.

The position is unpaid. It expires in December of 2015. Interested folks are encouraged to e-mail resumes to historicsites@southeast-ny.gov
