Wanted: Southeast Planning Board Member
A spot opened up earlier this month. Applicants should have their materials in by end-of-business on Feb. 20.

Officials are encouraging folks who have an interest in increasing their community involvement to consider applying for an open spot on one Town committee.
That committee is the Planning Board, which typically meets twice monthly to discuss land use within Southeast. The body is responsible for accepting construction applications for commercial structures, overseeing renovations and working with potential business owners to help them develop a clear vision for their establishment, among other things.
Seven members, each serving seven-year terms, make up the board. The seat opened up on Feb. 3, according to an email from Town councilwoman Lynne Eckardt. She was writing to the Yahoo group Brewster10509. The previous night, the Town Board voted to appoint Edwin Alvarez, who was slated to serve on the Planning Board until 2018, to fill the seat left open by .

"Anyone interested in this position is asked to send their resume/credentials to Tom LaPerch, Planning Board chairman, at 1 Main Street, Brewster, NY 10509, by close of business Tuesday, Feb. 20," she wrote. "Qualified applicants will be interviewed at the Feb. 27 Planning Board Meeting."
