When Do Brewster Schools Close, Reopen for Holidays 2016?
It's a short vacation this year in Brewster based on what day of the week Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's Day fall.
SOUTHEAST, NY — It's just the way the calendar falls in 2016. Christmas Eve is on a Saturday; Hanukkah is on a Sunday; New Year's Day is on a Sunday.
And that's why the Brewster school district's holiday vacation is only six school days long. The last day of school is Dec. 23. Then Jan. 2 is the national holiday, and there you are, the end! School resumes Jan. 3, 2017.
