Winds Cause Thousands Of Outages In Hudson Valley, Including Putnam

Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible in Philipstown.

SOUTHEAST, NY — Customers of Central Hudson have seen an increase since earlier this morning in the number of power outages.

As with the recent storms, the heavy winds are hitting Ulster County the hardest.

Of the 4,275 customers without electricity — as of 11 a.m. Thursday — more than 2,000 are in Woodstock.

Denning is seeing more than 500 outages, Marbletown has more than 400 and Lloyd has about 280.

Dutchess County has 1,443 customers affected by power outages, with Red Hook the hardest hit with 721 customers without electricity.

Beacon has 191, and the towns of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park each have around 140.

Several of the outages are set to be restored Thursday morning, but many are still pending.

In Orange County, there are 623 affected customers, with 467 in the city and town of Newburgh.

Philipstown in Putnam has 91 customers without electricity. Restoration is estimated for noon Thursday.
