Police ID Pedestrian Killed in Southeast Parking Lot
A man backed out of a parking space and ran over the Putnam Valley resident, police said.

An 86-year-old Putnam Lake woman was killed at 9:36 a.m. today in the parking lot of the Putnam County Savings Bank at 2477 Route 6 and Drewville Road in Southeast.
A preliminary investigation by members of the county Sheriffâs Department revealed that Barbara Fetzer was walking across the bank parking lot when Thomas Hunt, 66, backed out of a parking space and struck her. She fell down and he then ran over her.

Mr. Hunt, a outheast resident, was driving a 2008 Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup truck.
Members of Brewster Fire Department and Ambulance Corps along with Transcare Medics responded. The victim was transported to Putnam Hospital Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Sheriffâs Department Patrol members, the Accident Reconstruction team, and the BCI Forensic and Identification unit were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police. Hunt was transported to Putnam Hospital Center for observation, the investigation into the accident continues.
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith said the accident remains under investigation.
