โ€ข Staten Island launches campaign to help protect seniors from scams (abc7ny.com) โ€” Staten Island officials just launched a "Scambassador" campaign to help local seniors avoid fast-growing fraud schemes that have cost borough residents about $5 million in the past year. With lawn signs, flyers in banks and diners, and outreach through senior centers, they're recruiting community partners to spread tips on spotting jewelry swaps, fake gold-bar investments, and other scams.

โ€ข Staten Island Judge Invalidates New York City's Pied-ร -Terre Tax Selection Process (natlawreview.com) โ€” A Staten Island-based state judge has thrown out New York City's initial selection process for its new pied-ร -terre tax, ruling that officials must make individualized determinations before labeling homes as non-primary residences. While the tax itself still stands and a separate constitutional challenge continues in Suffolk County, affected owners and co-op boards are being urged to watch for new guidance and revised notices.

โ€ข Judge Orders New York City To Scrap Notices For Mamdani's Tax On Second Homes (zerohedge.com) โ€” A Staten Island Supreme Court judge has ordered New York City to cancel and redo its pied-ร -terre tax notices, finding the rollout arbitrary and a violation of property owners' due-process rights. The ruling, praised by Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella, forces the city to individually assess which high-value second homes are truly non-primary residences before sending any new tax bills.
