2. Ray Romano and Executive Producer Rory Rosegarten to be Inducted into the LI Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame on Nov. 5th (longisland.com) — Stony Brook residents can see Ray Romano and longtime manager Rory Rosegarten inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame at the Stony Brook Village location on Thursday, November 5. The evening event, open to the public with limited tickets, marks the Hall's first-ever non-music inductees and builds on its popular Everybody Loves Raymond exhibit that's been extended into 2027.
3. Homecoming: Meet Your 2026 Court of Seawolf Royalty (stonybrook.edu) — Stony Brook University has announced its 2026 Homecoming Court, spotlighting ten highly involved students who will vie for three Homecoming Royalty spots during Wolfstock on October 17. From student government leaders to social work advocates and resident assistants, each Seawolf is deeply engaged in making the Stony Brook campus and surrounding community more inclusive, connected, and fun.
4. Kollias Named a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (stonybrook.edu) — Stony Brook residents can take pride that Stony Brook University professor Pavlos Kollias has been named a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, recognizing his global leadership in radar-based atmospheric research. His recent quantum-geosciences workshop and cutting-edge radar sites on campus and at Brookhaven highlight the university's growing role in advanced weather and climate science.
5. Stony Brook University ranks top 200 worldwide as a research university (sbstatesman.com) — Stony Brook University has jumped to No. 188 in the 2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities, placing it among the top 200 research institutions worldwide and boosting the school's global profile. Local students and administrators credit major research achievements, including a Fields Medal and strong publication output, while also urging classmates to take better advantage of the many research opportunities on and around campus.
