- Community organizations across New York have been stepping up to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Alex House Project. This Brooklyn-based organization is working hard to help the Black and Brown communities, who have been disproportionately affected by hardship and death from COVID-19. The Alex House Project's initiatives have included providing vaccine education throughout New York City, daily community outreach in public parks in Red Hook, Sunset Park, and Bedford-Stuyvesant, and "Real Talk" conversations with doctors hosted via Zoom. - Hospitals in the Sunset Park area are filling up quickly as COVID-19 cases surge throughout New York. Many local facilities have over three-quarters of its inpatient and ICU beds occupied, with some hospitals at or above 100 percent capacity.
